101 Sound-bite Symphonies -
A celebration of short attention span

Picture
The shortest classical works on record (and a CD with the most tracks ever) - 101 symphonic sound-bites, each describing a number from 1 to 101. History, science, life, death, art, and religion, are all represented here. And they are less than a minute each in duration (the shortest is just 9 seconds),  perfect for the ADD culture we inhabit.

"My symphonies are to music what a vitamin C pill is to 50 oranges"                  Download CD

Let There Be War  - A Requiem for Peace (2010)

Picture
Here are the voices of American presidents, from Woodrow Wilson to Obama, in their war speeches, sending their own countrymen to die. And they are set to music. It is a savage musical satire and an  indictment of the Men in Suits who continue to wage war.

Musica Sacra Nuova - Thirteen Urban Rituals
You start your day with making French-host, followed by shaving grace and the absolution of cavities. Then come rush-hour penance and waiting in Limbo on the phone, or for your holy orders at Starbucks - these are the new sacraments of our life on the run.

Concerto for Bagpipe & Orchestra (2010)

The haunting sounds of the highland bagpipe have rarely been associated with a symphony orchestra. This short concerto may introduce the piper as a valid soloist to symphony audiences at Pops concerts, youth concerts, and Celtic programming.                                                 (Duration 8 min.)

World-premiere - Michigan Philharmonic, November 2013

Symphony No. 1 - "The Berkshires" (2011)

Picture
Four seasons and four landmarks in the bucolic Berkshires of Massachusetts inspired this work, from Tanglewood concerts in August to the hunters on October Mountain in the fall, the ice encrusted rocks of Ice Glen and the placid mirror surface of Woods Pond in the spring.        (duration 21 min.)
