As an infant in Czechoslovakia my mother used to soothe me to sleep with a little tune she made up. Years later in her nursing home, I would hum to her that tune and suddenly she would open her eyes and smile at me, every time.
This is my third symphony, a musical poem in three continuous sections based on that lullaby.
