Soundbite 101 Sound-bite Symphonies - A celebration of short attention span (2011)

Just a few seconds each, these condensed masterpieces cover the entire human experience, from religion, love, war, sex, and history to our bodies and belief systems. Sound-bite symphonies are to regular symphonies what a 1000 mg vitamin C pill is to 50 oranges.

Requiem American Gory - A perpetual war requiem (2010) 
Historic recordings of American presidents' war speeches set to music. This poignant work takes to task the men in suits who wage wars, from Woodrow Wilson to Nixon,  JFK, and Barak Obama.

Eve of Life Eve of Life - Oratorio (2009) (from "The Celestial Choir")
The biblical story of the Garden of Eden put on its head. In this version based on the Gnostic Gospels, God is evil, Eve is the daughter of Pure Spirit, bestowing life and consciousness on Adam, and the snake is her wise messanger.

Fibonacci Fibonacci - Opera (2009) (from "The Math Lecture", Act 1)
A contemporary  opera about mathematics, derived from the the Fibonacci Series, a number series that mysteriously shows up evrywhere in Nature. What happens when the deepest secret of the Universe is uploaded to the Internet disguised as music? Why is the FBI trying to kill the mathematician who discovered it? Why does the goddess Athena, the goddess of wisdom, decide to descend from Mount Olympus and intervene?

  • Associated Press - Song cycle (2000)
AP news bulletins culled from newspapers are treated as poetry in this eclectic song cycle, for voice and electronic backup.

  • Catatonics - Video opera (1990)
A selection of the 1991 Montreal International Film Festival's experimental video showcase, and the Images Video Festival in Toronto. An opera about a stock broker who becomes obsessed with a mysterious mentally ill woman who sits every day on a park bench outside his financial district office. A dark past that connects them is revealed. The work uses improvised sing-songing by the actors which is later manipulated, harmonized, and orchestrated.
